Brembo Radial Brake Master Cylinders RCS
The Brembo RCS radial brake master cylinder
offers a choice between powerful or adjustable
braking, depending on road conditions, the
weather, personal preferences and driving
sensations. Thanks to its innovative adjustment
system, this patented brake master cylinder
(derived directly from MotoGP versions) means
that the same brake master cylinder can be
adapted to different and highly demanding driver
applications. Developed with the precise
intention of transferring MotoGP and Superbike
technology to the wider audience of enthusiasts,
the Brembo RCS radial master cylinder, in terms
of technical content and style, is a new frontier
for high performance brake components. The
RCS system comprises a locator whereby it is
possible to change the lever ratio to 18 or 20 mm
to set the ideal “feeling” between rider and bike.
By changing the ratio, the brakes can be made
more responsive and faster (20 mm) or more
modular (18 mm). The change of confi guration is
very quick: with the eccentric system (red on 18
mm, black on 20 mm), a simple screwdriver can
adjust lever ratio by turning the locator on the
front guide lever by 180°. This gives rise to a
different distribution of braking force that does
not affect raw power. The small piston, seals and
cap of RCS master cylinders are the same as for
the master cylinders used by almost all MotoGP
and Superbike riders, characterised by very tight
machining tolerances and optimal smoothness.
The RCS radial master cylinder is available in two
versions: 19 mm or 15 mm diameter piston. The
19RCS must be used on twin disc systems with
4 non-fl oating small pistons, while the 15RCS
can be mounted on single-disc units with a
4-piston caliper, or twin-disc with fl oating
calipers. On-road use of the brake master
cylinder is enabled by a specifi c microswitch for
illuminating the Stop Light (brake).
